I found this a really helpful tool in first learning to sit with anxious thoughts and not respond with restriction or running -long, far and hard. It gets me out of my head and helps me to re-engage with what is going on around me and not keep reliving what has already happened or worrying about the future. Basically you stop and notice/observe 5 things you can see, 5 things you can smell, 5 things you can hear. I find it great in quelling all the thoughts in my head and being more present in the moment.
